Circular economy
An economic system based on the reuse and regeneration of materials or products, especially as a means of continuing production in a sustainable or environmentally friendly way.
After being introduced to an article in The Architectural Review titled 'Circle of life: Flores & Prats’ Sala Beckett theater in Barcelona' this singular term 'circular economy' has made itself a predominant figure at the forefront of my mind. This approach to sustainable design is a prime example of the approach I am proposing to take with wymering manor. The materials of the manor speaks volumes on the history and stories embeded in it's core. To simply dispose of elements that could be utilized in a similar manner to that of which they where originally formed for pains me. We live in a world where is has become the 'norm' to replace objects at a snap of the fingers with no consideration to what becomes of the items we dispose of, objects that still contain Vibrant matter. In the words of Jane Bennett " We are Vital Materiality, and we are surrounded by it though we do not always see it that way. The ethical task at hand here is to cultivate the ability to discern non-human vitality to become perceptually open to it".
