Green design creates environmentally sustainable and resource-efficient interior environments throughout a building's lifecycle. It involves consciously designing with considerations for life cycle, recyclability, environmental impact reduction, and full sustainability. Aimed at sustainable economic and social development, green design innovates traditional design processes to continuously utilize natural resources, improve the ecological environment, grow production wealth, and enhance life quality. Its essence is to balance natural, economic, social, and spiritual aspects to the maximum, reflecting a "nature-oriented" design theory rather than "machine-oriented" or "people-oriented" concepts.
This research document was collated for prepatory use of lesson plans for the incoming september 2024 start if SFU's Undergraduate Interior Architecture and Design course.
